Has anybody ever done this before? I am holding my 2nd daughter in front of me thinking it will help hide my body . . . it didn't work! And I went on to have 2 more kids after this picture was taken. I have struggled with weight my whole life, but REALLY struggled with back to back pregnancies and lack of sleep. I was eating at all hours of the night and of course eating all of the wrong things, trying to keep my energy level up. In 2004, after my 3rd child was born, I found exercsie and it changed my life . . .physically and mentally. I have never felt better, I have more energy and can manage stress better when I get my workout in. That one hour I take for myself, makes the other 23 hours in the day better. I never would have imagined owning a fitness club, I really consider myself a member, just a more committed one! It's Your Life, you can do this too, MAKE IT COUNT.

I began my journey coming to Punch every morning at 5am with my wife walking on the treadmill. After a while, a trainer helped me add some strength training. A few months later I decided to try my first class and I was hooked. Each new step of the workouts someone was there to help me get to my goal of losing 100 lbs. And I've kept it off for a year!
I came into Punch this year determined to drop more weight. I signed up for the 12 week Make it Count Challenge at the start of the year and became very consistent with my workouts. Over the course of the challenge I began to include a protein shake immediately after my workouts. It really helps me repair my body for the next workout and kept me on track for my weight loss. At the end of the contest, I won and couldn't be more happy with the results.
My husband Jeff and I joined Punch Boxing and Fitness to get ourselves into good physical condition. As former athletes, we were looking for something challenging to do together that would show real results. We both had been working out at other gyms; however, progress had slowed and we needed a program with higher intensity and a much needed change of pace. At the first of the year, we were looking to make a change and did a one week free trial at Punch. By the second boxing class, I was hooked and knew that it was exactly what I needed. I quit my other gym and the rest is history. In three months, I have lost about 20 lbs, gone down 2 sizes in clothing and converted fat to lean muscle. Both Jeff and I have had to buy new clothes with no complaints.
Diverse, high intensity workouts with a little tough love and lots of encouragement is what you will get from the instructors at Punch Boxing and Fitness. Punch members are great and have formed a little family, who offer encouragement and much needed comic relief when the workouts get tough. The owners, Brad and Jill are easy to work with and accommodating of the members wants and needs for scheduling and types of classes offered. I would recommend Punch to anyone who wants to work out and get into shape with real results. You will get out of it exactly what you put in and feel a real sense of accomplishment after each class.
I first learned that PUNCH was opening in Shawnee in December of last year from my wife via one of the PUNCH instructors. I've struggled with my weight for the last ten years and I've been as high as 332lbs and as low as 210lbs. I have thousands of dollars of exercise equipment in my house (including cardio equipment, free weights, and a punching bag), but found that I rarely used any of it and when I did I found it difficult to motivate myself into giving 100% effort every workout. I love the workout and stress relief that boxing provides but had no background in the sport.
For the last two and a half months that I've been a member at PUNCH I've noticed a number of positive changes in my appearance, my energy, and my overall health and well being. I've lost over 20lbs of fat and gained about 8lbs of muscle. Shirts that used to be tight around my stomach are now tight across my shoulders and arms and I've had to cinch my belt in a notch or two. My body fat percentage has gone down over 6% and my borderline high blood pressure is down to normal. I have more energy than I've had in several years and I don't feel tired throughout the day.
The thing that surprised me the most about myself after joining PUNCH was how quickly I was able to “turn the corner”. The first several days I attended PUNCH the workouts were certainly difficult, but the instructors helped me modify where I needed to so that I could complete the entire workout. Within a week I was able to do almost everything that was being asked. One of the best parts of the workouts is the ability to be in an instructor-led class but still be able to get as much out of the workout as you put into it. You truly are in charge of how easy or difficult your workout will be, with some friendly prodding from the instructors and fellow members to give it all you can.
Thanks in part to the help and encouragement of the entire staff and the other members I haven't missed a single day since PUNCH opened. I couldn't be happier with my experience and I would encourage anyone of any fitness level to give it a try.
